Charleston Summer Camp Quick Faq:
- What age groups have camps? Most camps are for school-aged children, K-5 and older. However, there are several locations that have preschool-based camps (typically at dance studios, nature centers, and places that already host classes throughout the year for preschoolers). Children typically need to be potty-trained to attend.
-
When do camps start in Charleston? Camps typically begin the first week of June (or the last day of school for Charleston County public school students is May 28th, 2026). Most summer camps are weekly camps, with many offering full summer rates.
-
Are there scholarships or discounts? Most privately owned organizations do not offer scholarships for their summer camps. Camps run by the county, parks system, or non-profits may offer scholarships (contact them directly). Scholarship applications typically need to be submitted early, and families must meet specific income restrictions. Charleston County Parks is a great example. ⭐Note: Many camps offer early bird pricing, paying for a full summer in late winter, early spring can help you save some money!
