Whether you’re dealing with a tough time financially, navigating a job loss, or just trying to keep up with rising grocery bills, there are local organizations ready to help — no questions asked.

Throughout Charleston County and the surrounding Lowcountry, food pantries, churches, and nonprofits are offering groceries, meals, and support with dignity and care. Many locations don’t require paperwork or ID, and some even offer drive-thru pickups or home delivery for seniors and those with mobility concerns.

Charleston Countywide Food Resources

Lowcountry Food Bank: The Hulsey Family Community Food and Nutrition Center, Charleston Tri-County

One80 Place Community Kitchen

Mt. Pleasant, Daniel Island & East Cooper: Food Assistance

ECCO (East Cooper Community Outreach)

  • Address: 1145 Six Mile Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29466
  • Hours: M-W 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. ; Thur 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. ; Produce market 3rd Wednesday monthly 9am – produce runs out
  • Notes: Shop online or call for grocery pick-up from the food pantry. All clients must income qualify based on 250% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Photo ID, proof of residence, and proof of income are all required.
    However, a farmers market with fresh fruit and vegetables serves anyone in the community on the third Wednesday of the month from 9am until produce runs out.

James Island Outreach

  • Hours: Client Choice Food Pantry: Tues, Thurs 9:30am – 11:30am ; Drive-through Food Distribution: Sat 9:00am – 11:30am
  • Notes: Must be a registered client. Bring photo ID and proof of residence. A free taxi service is available on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month to help clients return home with their groceries.

Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach

  • Notes: Offers food, clothing, dental services, and financial counseling. To qualify for the food pantry, clients must live in the service area, present proof of residency, and proof of income at or below 250% the poverty level.
