Hello, Halloween adventurers! Get ready for a magical (and slightly spooky) time on Daniel Island. Whether you’re 5 or 105, here’s everything you need to know about the island’s big Halloween event this year — the fabulous haunted-house tour of yards and streets known as the Spooky Halloween House Tour.
What is the DI Spooky Halloween House Tour?
Every October on Daniel Island, many homes turn into fun haunted displays for one big self-guided driving or walking tour. More than 30 houses across the island are decked out in some amazing decor, with themes like “House of Skulls”, “Tarantula Lair”, “Web of Death”, and “House of Dragons”.
You can go by car, golf cart, bike, or on foot. The idea is to cruise through the neighborhoods, stop and enjoy the decorations, and maybe take a few pictures.
See for yourself!
When to go: The Daniel Island Halloween tour
The decorations are up from early October (and especially in the last week of October) through Halloween. Around 6:30 pm you can go explore any time once the houses are lit — but evenings are best because everything looks extra spooky under the lights!
Where to go & how to do it

- Homes participating are scattered across Daniel Island; you’ll spot them in the “Spooky Tour” map released by the organizers. Follow the link and see the map of decorated Halloween houses. Each dot represents a decorated house.
- The Spooky Tour Website
- You can start wherever you like (it’s a choose-your‐own adventure).
- If you’re on a golf cart or in a car, go slowly, watch for pedestrians, and enjoy the light displays.
The Tour Contest
Homes are not only decorated — many enter a little friendly competition. Categories include:
- Spookiest House
- Most Creative
- Most Fun
- Overall Best Haunted House
Who can go?
Everyone! Families with little trick-or-treaters, friends, neighbors — all are welcome. Since many decorations are in front yards and visible from the street, it’s very family-friendly. Some houses might be a little scary, so younger kids might want mom or dad’s help.
Our Favorite Halloween House on Daniel Island

Our favorite is 557 Park Crossing Street. It is decorated unlike any other house you’ve ever seen. With dozens of animatronics and huge “jump scare” displays, it is one of our favorite activities we explore each Halloween. My daughter’s favorite was the huge “fire” breathing dragon she got to ride. My son’s favorite part was all the “jump scare” animatronics, like the gilly suit that blends in like a tree and then jumps out screaming!
Tips for a Great Time: DI Spooky Tour
- Go around dusk or after dark so lights show best.
- Bring a camera; there are lots of photo opportunities.
- Stay safe: if you’re walking or on a bike/golf cart, use well-lit sidewalks and watch for cars.
- Be courteous: many homes are in quiet residential areas.
- Bring your own snacks/drinks if you’ll be out a while.
