1. Daniel Island Ferry Ride to Downtown Charleston
Start your evening on the water with a ferry ride from Daniel Island to downtown Charleston. As the skyline comes into view, the city feels extra magical. Once docked, stroll the waterfront, grab dinner or cocktails, and enjoy the ride back under the stars.
This is one of our favorite things to do — a boat ride downtown that has a bar on deck. We can enjoy the beautiful skyline and have dinner downtown without worrying about how we are getting back home! Beautiful sights and such a relaxed atmosphere makes it a must.

2. Charleston Adventure Forest in Awendaw
For couples who love a little adrenaline, zip lining through the trees near Awendaw is a thrilling way to bond. Flying side by side above the forest is exciting, unexpected, and a great story to share long after the date ends.

3. Kayaking Around Botany Bay
This is a date night for true adventurers. Paddle your way to the stunning, untouched beauty of Botany Bay, where driftwood beaches and wildlife create a surreal backdrop. You may see dolphins and loads of other wildlife. If you don’t feel adventurous in camping on Botany Bay, you can end the experience with a sunset paddle back — peaceful, romantic, and unforgettable.
Note: Access is via Botany Bay Plantation Heritage Preserve, 1066 Botany Bay Rd, Edisto Island, SC 29438.
4. Cooking Classes
Skip the restaurant and learn to cook together instead. Charleston offers hands-on cooking classes where you can chop, stir, laugh, and enjoy the meal you’ve made side by side. It’s interactive, fun, and surprisingly romantic — and even better, there are so many to choose from! From Bob Wagoner’s cooking class to learning to make French chocolates with Christophe, there are a lot of options.

5. Downtown Art Walk
Plan an evening strolling through downtown galleries during an art walk. Sip wine, admire local art, and spark conversation as you wander from space to space. It’s a relaxed, creative date that feels effortlessly chic.
This is one of my favorite date nights to date. The Art Walks offer free wine and appetizers with all galleries open late into the evening on the first Friday of each month.

6. Concert at The Windjammer + Drinks at Coconut Joe’s
Start your night with tropical drinks at Coconut Joe’s on Isle of Palms, then head to The Windjammer for a live concert overlooking the ocean. Music, salty air, and dancing make this a classic Lowcountry date night. We have seen so many great bands here at this fun venue. What’s better than listening to your favorite band with your feet in the sand?

9. Plantation Stroll & Dinner at Middleton Place
Spend the evening wandering through Middleton Place. Take a horseback guided tour or a bike ride surrounded by history, blooming flowers, and sweeping views. Pair it with dinner on the grounds — or make it extra special with an overnight stay at the inn for a truly romantic escape.
We stayed at the Inn for our first anniversary, and it’s beautiful. We took a bike ride through the plantation, rode right past a sunbathing alligator, saw peacocks and other wildlife, all while having a picnic lunch in the garden. Staying overnight in this peaceful slice of heaven has been one of my favorite “staycations.”
